Casting Principle: Casting refers to a technological process of making castings with pre-set shape, size and properties through melting metal into liquids meeting certain requirements, pouring them into casting molds, cooling, solidification, cleaning and finishing. Because the cast blanks nearly take shape, the aim of free machining or less processing is reached, reducing costs and time to some extent.
Casting Type: Ordinary sand casting includes wet sand, dry sand and chemical hardened sand three categories. We now are using a CO2 hardened sodium silicate-bounded sand. Special casting, by molding materials, can also be divided into special casting process with natural mineral sand as the main molding material (such as fired mold molding, clay casting, casting room shell mold casting, negative pressure casting, cavityless casting, ceramic mold casting, etc.) and special casting with metal as the main molding materials (such as metal mold casting, pressure casting, continuous casting, low-pressure casting and centrifugal casting).
Casting Technique: Mould (containers making liquid metals become solid castings) preparation. By materials, moulds can be divided into sand, metal, ceramic, clay and graphite moulds; by number of use, moulds can be divided into disposable, semi-permanent and permanent moulds. Good and bad mould preparation is the key factor affecting the quality of castings.
